"To build the ideal civilization..."

Set within an Egyptian setting, the objective of A Tale in the Desert is to build the ideal civilization by perfecting the Seven Disciplines of Man. Each discipline is unique. To perfect Art, you must create works of genuine beauty for your fellow players to judge. To perfect Leadership, you must wisely govern your fellow players. To advance in Conflict, you must master the duel, a test of wits, not strength. To advance Architecture, you must build monuments that tower over your fellow players. To progress in Worship, teams of players must master beautiful but complex rituals. To progress in The Human Body, you must maximize your strength and endurance. And to achieve perfect Thought, you must master the sphinx's riddles.

The outcome of the game depends solely on the players. The players build their own cities, they choose their own leaders, and they must meet the stranger's challenges. If they can organize themselves and negotiate for what they need, Egypt will flourish.

The game is based upon story telling, advancement, resource management, and progress through skills as you attain ranks in the seven disciplines. Thereis no combat: no monsters, no player-killers, no swords or armor. Your character advances by completing, participating in, or leading large projects. Negotiation and politics play a very large role. The game has a plot that unfolds in response to player actions, and when the story is over, the game ends.

Landmarks and water...
Characters have vital statistics, levels, skills, and an inventory. Also, characters are able to create functional buildings within the game world. Some of these buildings are used like tools, others like factories, training centers, markets, or storage areas.

For those who enjoy PvP, there is none in this game. But, if your looking to show your supremacy over others via intellect, planning, politics, this offers a vastly different arena. Have thousands of players work together with in game petition's that you craft as you attempt to accomplish your goals.

Expansions:

Comments: If you have been looking for something different, here you are. eGenesis is thinking outside of the box to offer a unique and radically different type of MMOG, where the skills of the mind take effect. While everyone is making a fantasy or Sci-Fi genre game, eGen is bringing a new avenue for gamers to explore with resource management. Can you gain the support of the people, build a town and have temples to the god's dedicated in your name?

One of the items that could put a player out, is the petition system while a good idea, it's a system that could cause massive grief. If you find an aspect of the game you do not find particularly enjoyable, you can start a petition and have other players agree to sign it. If it's a feasible petition, it can be tossed into a law and the developers can make changes to the game. They do reserve the right to veto any laws. Depending on what laws get passed, what works one day for players may not work the following day after a law is passed. If thousands of users are working together ten laws a day could almost be passed. Grief!

The world is yours to make. So shall it be written so shall it be done.

Discuss: Will you build the ideal civilization?
