Ahavarion, Spear of Lycander Patch 1.1.0 Patch Notes
As all other Uber Uniques in Diablo 4, is extremely powerful and very hard to find. Besides the strong base affixes, its passive unique effect defines the incredible potential of this item:
When killing an Elite enemy while wielding , players will get one of seven possible Diablo 4 Shrine effects. It is safe to say that, while the Greed Shrine may be the only “low roll” in this scenario, all other six shrine effects more or less trivialize current in-game content. Check out all Diablo 4 Shrine effects and what they do down below:
| Shrine Type | Description |
| Artillery Shrine | Your Attack Speed is increased and all attacks summon holy arrows. |
| Blast Wave Shrine | You periodically explode, damaging enemies around you. |
| Channeling Shrine | Your skills cost no resource and have reduced cooldown. |
| Conduit Shrine | You can shock and surge through enemies. |
| Greed Shrine | Enemies drop Gold when hit and you automatically pick up Gold from farther away. |
| Lethal Shrine | All of your skills deal more damage and Critically Strike. |
| Protection Shrine | You are Invulnerable* and Unstoppable**. |
All Shrine buffs have a 30-second duration – combine this with ‘s 30-second internal cooldown, and you’re looking at potentially infinite Shrine buffs during a dungeon run. Yes, ‘s massive +4 Ranks to all Skills sounds powerful – but everyone who experienced the sheer amount of damage a Conduit or Artillery Shrine can add knows that this silly hat pales in comparison.
Diablo 4 Shrines Guides
It is no understatement to say that is the strongest item currently in the game. That comes as a bit of a surprise, especially when you take a closer look at Ahavarion’s Diablo 3 iteration:
“For love of the nephalem Philios, I will leave this weapon behind, and exchange the powers of Heaven for the peace of Sanctuary.”
–The angel Lycander
The on-kill proc chance of the Legendary Staff in Diablo 3 is about 1%. Yes, Shrines in Diablo 3 last for two whole minutes compared to the 30 seconds in Diablo 4, but the fact that Ahavarion’s proc only works after killing demons made this a very conditional effect in Diablo 3.
However, it still looks stronger than the Diablo 4 Placeholder Staff some players found shortly after the release of Diablo 4’s Patch 1.1.0. Imagine looking at an Uber Unique with a cosmically low drop chance in your mortal hands – which has zero stats! Shorty after the first reports of bugged drops, Blizzard swiftly removed the placeholder item from the game’s loot table.
