It truly baffles my mind how the hunter tier sets have looked trashed almost consistently for 20 years. We have maybe two or three gear sets that look even passable. Why can wow not make cool sets, when other games can do it constantly?

Right, though. The dreamstone adds versions of the LFR/Normal/Heroic/Gladiator sets to your wardrobe with the visual effects of the mythic/elite sets, and also a version of the mythic/elite sets without the glow.

Because for some weird reason the devs think hunters are ‘ranged knights’.
Hunters shouldn’t wear mail. It’s stupid. They should be wearing leather.
