Members of the Wowhead team have reflected back on the past year, sharing what we’re particularly proud of on our site in 2024 (as well as a few cat pics). You’ll see some familiar names in the post, as well as some new ones–with the accelerated release cadence, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes expanding our team with dedicated news and guide managers so we can keep delivering quality content we’re proud of no matter what scheduling surprises Blizzard throws at us.
Happy New Year, and we look forward to another year of exciting plans, site features, guides, and datamining in 2025. (And hopefully BlizzCon so we can meet you all in person again!)
Perc (Site Director) and Brightpaw (Chief Morale Officer)
While I mostly oversee content instead of writing individual articles now, I do enjoy coordinating the transmog/model coverage at the start of each PTR cycle, especially the unofficial Trading Post datamining speculation. And I also really enjoyed seeing all the unused weapon and armor tints from Pandaria finally make an appearance in Remix! I started on Wowhead over 10 years ago creating the original transmog sets so the gear from that time is very special and nostalgic to me.
The most fun article this year by far was the Steelseries preview, where I enlisted the local talent (Brightpaw) to pose by the peripherals. Bribed with treats, he was very obliging, and his shiny charcoal fur coordinated well with the merch!
Cinereus (Diablo Content Manager)
This is our third full year with the Diablo franchise, and we thoroughly enjoyed the launch of Vessel of Hatred despite some issues with the new class. This year gave us the Spritiborn class, along with the various Eagle builds that ruled Season Six, and it looks solid for Seasons to come. We did a major revamp to our build tool, polished our overall guide and news formats, and did tons more behind-the-scenes work to improve everything for our readers.
We’re looking forward to Season Seven, Witch Powers, and whatever else Blizzard throws at us this year. Of course, the question on all our minds is, “will we get another expansion?”
Best Wishes for the New Year, Wanderer.
- We covered and enjoyed the launch of Vessel of Hatred, including the now-iconic Eagle Spiritborn.
- We battled demonic corruption in the Infernal Hordes, delved into the Pit of Artificers, fought Seething Realm Walkers and Unhinged Constructs, and shared the best ways to survive these horrors with our readers.
- We improved our tools and planners to aid wanderers in planning their characters while updating everything for the new “loot reborn” format, including master working and tempering.
Renata (Guide Lead)
My fifth anniversary with Wowhead came and went in the release blur over the summer and early fall! It’s been a demanding year, but I’m proud to be part of multiple teams pitching in to rise to the challenges. I’m hoping BlizzCon makes a triumphant return in 2025; it’s nice to talk to everyone over Discord, but it’s even better to get together with my Wowhead family.
Thanks in particular to the guide manager teams of Anshlun, Paryah, Passion, Serenal, and Constant, and of course our intrepid leaders Squishei, Rokman, Cinereus, and Perculia. I also want to give a huge shout-out to all our hardworking writers who turn themselves inside out to create the best guides anywhere — without you, none of this would happen. Happy 2025 to everyone!
Rokman (Classic Manager)
I want to give a huge shoutout to the Classic Leads who have taken over different parts of the Classic site. Poptop running the News, Serenal running General Guides, and Passion running Class Guides! The leads on Classic have done such a great job this year and we’ve got some really talented Class and Guide Writers, I know we can handle anything Blizzard throws our way. Onward to 2025!
Squishei (Retail Manager)
2024 provided a close to the Dragonflight expansion and moved into War Within to start the Worldsoul Saga. It has been exciting to witness to story and I can’t wait to see where the story goes in Midnight and the Last Titan.
See you all next year!
Jezartroz (Diablo News Lead, Retail Writer)
Looking back, 2024 was an absolute whirlwind. Between a new expansion for WoW, Diablo 4’s first-ever expansion Vessel of Hatred, and Classic WoW releasing more SoD Phases, Cataclysm Classic, and Classic Anniversary Realms, Blizzard has been giving us more content to explore than ever, and that means more News, Guides, and fun!
I’m incredibly lucky to be able to work on all these games here at Wowhead, and every day I’m thankful for the teams I work with. Keeping up with hectic late-night PTRs and tweets at random times of the day is so much easier when you have people to laugh along with during the process – special shout out to all the News writers who put up with my pings at all hours of the day!
There’s even more to come in 2025 for Wowhead and the games we all love. I can’t wait to dig into new Undermine(d) content in The War Within, see exactly what the next few seasons of Diablo 4 will bring us, find new secrets in Azeroth with the Classic crew – and share those moments with all the readers and Wowhead users who are just as passionate about these games as I am. Always remember to be kind to each other, and Happy New Year – see you in Azeroth, Sanctuary, and beyond! ❤️
And a special Holiday Greeting from Macaroni, who, when he’s not on my desk, is screaming to be held like a baby.
PopularTopular (WoW Classic News Lead, Diablo News Writer )
While we did not have a BlizzCon in 2024, Warcraft Direct gave us a glimpse of things to come in 2025. As a WoW Classic player, I’m most looking forward to the continuation of the 20th Anniversary servers, with Phase 2 beginning in early January. However, I’m also very excited to see what’s in store for Season of Discovery beyond Phase 7, and I’m also looking forward to replaying Mists of Pandaria Classic next summer! While I am a Classic Andy, I have dipped my toes into Retail and have enjoyed the Worldsoul Saga so far. I’m excited to continue the story and finally experience real Player Housing once the Midnight expansion launches.
I’m very grateful for the team we have here at Wowhead, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it. More than any piece of content that Blizzard releases in 2025, I’m most looking forward to collaborating, brainstorming, and continuing to produce S-tier content with a website that I have used for the majority of my life.
Thank you to all of our readers, writers, and leaders. I look forward to another great year ahead!
Anshlun (Retail Class Guide Manager)
Plunderstorm was such a unique event, while Remix was a nice warm-up in preparation for Classic Mists of Pandaria (which is coming in only a few months!)
For 2025 I’m excited to see what Blizzard has in store for all flavors of WoW. Excited to see what’s in store for SoD in Phase 7 and beyond, for what happens in Classic Mists of Pandaria, what adventures wait for us in Undermine, and what comes after.
The main highlight for next year, however, has to be Player Housing. I can’t wait to see how Blizzard implements this new feature!
I hope to see everyone again throughout this year and hope 2025 will be your best year yet
Happy Holidays!
Constant (Diablo Guide Lead, Tier List Coordinator, and Barbarian Class Lead)
All of us on the Diablo side owe so much to Cin’s exceptional leadership and tact, Ren’s versatility and dedication, Paryah’s diligence and resourcefulness, and Jez’s adaptability and energy. And while our team is navigating the fast-paced world of Sanctuary, Perculia somehow manages to oversee all Wowhead divisions with a seemingly impossible effectiveness and attention to detail.
There are far too many to list, but I want to thank our amazing writers, all of whom have applied their unique experiences and knowledge to make Wowhead such a valuable resource for Diablo 4. It’s hard to believe that 2024 started out with Seneschal Companions and Vaults and ultimately led us into the jungles of Nahantu with an entirely new class for the Diablo franchise. My year comes to a close with excitement for Season 7 and the dream of playing Crusader or Paladin in Diablo 4, and I can’t wait to see what Wowhead accomplishes in 2025.
Paryah (Retail General Guide Manager)
On a personal note, there are always people who make my life better: Perc, Squishei, and Ren in leadership; my writers and editor, Nery, MX, Pop, Jez, and Gio; our class guides team, Ansh and Jaydaa; Jerek and the devs, which sounds like a band and maybe should be; and the lovely D4 folks who let me keep writing for them too, Cin and Constant. On top of that I would be nowhere without the sanity checks and support from my raid team, the Murder folks at Malice.
The most and biggest thanks are due to our readers. Thank you to everyone who has read, scanned, commented, and contributed to our marvelous site. And thanks also to Blizzard, which kinda goes without saying but shouldn’t. Thanks Blizz!
Here’s to a rocking 2025 for everyone!
Passion (Classic Class Lead)
I hope Blizzard continues to bring more experimental Seasonal content to Classic, each one better than the last. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m also really looking forward to Mists Classic. I’m glad Classic went past Wrath, even if I’m not a huge Cataclysm fan, if only because it means I get to be a Monk sooner rather than later.
I hope you all have a fantastic 2025, and I hope every new iteration on Classic is better than the last.
Serenal (General Guide Manager for Classic)
That being said, MOP has some big competition this year with our 3rd run at The Burning Crusade on the way. And of course, should the mythical Classic Plus appear in 2025, I’m totally going to be here for it.
I wish you all an amazing 2025, I cannot wait to see what Classic has in store for us all next!
Raef (Wowhead Developer)
I’ve already had several projects roll out this year. The D4 maps tool is what I would consider the first major project I’ve contributed to, and it’s continued to serve us well with the release of Vessel of Hatred. More noticeably, the updated homepage sections rolled out just a few months ago across every site we have. It was intimidating to be handed such an important project as the newest member of the dev team, but I was excited to deliver something that improved the legibility and responsiveness of the site to the community. Behind the scenes, I’ve also worked on improving web accessibility for Wowhead by improving site behavior for screen readers and upgrading keyboard navigation across several of our existing tools. It’s an ongoing process, and one that I’m very passionate about. I’m looking forward to improving and creating new tools to serve the players into 2025 and beyond!
Neryssa (Retail News and Guides)
My highlight of 2024 was working through the War Within Beta, it was a shorter beta but beta development is always a special time for content creating. The accelerated content pace is definitely noticeable and looking forward to blasting through the expansion in 2025!
I wish everyone who spends their time reading this a great 2025, hoping we see more of Midnight before the end of the year! And as usual, a very special thank you to all my co-workers here at Wowhead! I could honestly not ask for a better team. Here’s to the next year (and hopefully, a BlizzCon so I get to see you people again!)
Portergauge (Retail News)
This year has been crazier than ever with WoW’s fast paced content schedule, and it’s only more noticable as a part of this team. There are no breaks on this train, and the upcoming patch cycle for The War Within is proving to be no exception. WoW, and Blizzard in general, have had a rough go of things the last few years, but it’s been gratifying to see the changes made to be better since Dragonflight first launched, and I hope things only improve further as we explore the Worldsoul Saga.
From cinematic analysis to questline playthrough to datamined items, it’s been an honor being able to work with everyone on the Wowhead team to deliver news about the game we love, and I’m looking forward to more in 2025 and beyond!
Tharid (Diablo News Writer and Sorc Lead, WoW News Writer)
My two wishes for 2025? Better balance in Diablo 4’s next expansion and more support for Diablo 2: Resurrected!
