Onyxia’s Lair Raid Overview Molten Core Raid Overview
The first and definitely most unfortunate death highlight was caused by Lacari. The Mage player who was chosen to lead his first Molten Core raid earlier that day tried to go the extra mile by collecting world buffs in Dire Maul. What he didn’t see coming, however, was a certain boss called Captain Kromcrush. The most unfortunate thing about all this? Lacari died off-stream, so his guildmates like Grubby had to find out the hard way! Later on, Warrior expert SONII visited Dire Maul to pay tributes to the fallen hero.
One of the most impressive achievements by a player completely new to Classic WoW has been achieved by none other than Warcraft 3 pro and Druid player Grubby. In record time, he led his raid team through Molten Core for the very first time – just three months after picking up the game.
However, he didn’t manage to keep his raid sheet completely clean: In an act of Warrior-like optimism, Pontus started to blast a bit too early after the infamous threat reset of Wrath of Ragnaros, one of the deadliest mechanics in Molten Core. Grubby’s reaction couldn’t have been more heartbreaking even though there was close to nothing to do for him as a raid leader to prevent this Hardcore death.
While others prepare for yet another raid night in Molten Core, some of last week’s fallen heroes decided to “go again” – like Pikaboo, for example. However, his second life as a Priest wasn’t bound to last as long as his Warrior did, primarily due to the narrow and confusing corridors of Uldaman.
But wait … could all this have been a prime example of Karma? Earlier this week, the same Priest engaged in what appeared to be an innocent duel on top of Thousand Needles’ Freewind Pass. However, a few seconds and one Psychic Scream cast later, the fate of Pikaboo’s competitor, the Rogue Freddyshanks, was sealed – even without the “clever use” of Mind Control:
The next clip deserves the title of “Best Hardcore No Death Highlight”! Like Grubby, French Canadian streamer and Rogue PvP extraordinaire Payo was chosen to lead a raid group into Molten Core for the first time. Despite his limited PvE raid experience, and unlike Grubby, Payo kept all his raid members alive – bravo!
The recent changes to the spawn rate of Black Lotus caused a community discussion around consumables used during Classic progression. While many think that flasks aren’t really needed to clear Classic content, the following clip by Hunter pro and Classic speedrunner Sarthe shows that, at least in Hardcore, every flask and every bit of health counts: A Flask of the Titans could’ve avoided the 233 overkill damage done by Lava Surger to prevent Sarthe’s unfortunate demise:
Last but not least, Priest PvP legend Hydramist died a tragic but also incredibly relatable death – luckily, only on his Druid alt. How, you ask? Of course, by alt-tabbing and watching a Twitch clip:
