TBC Pre-Patch Overview
Here, we’ll explore one “lesser-known” or “under-the-radar” change that you may not have thought of or remembered from past iterations of the game. For a more in-depth look at some other changes, check out this video by WoW Classic YouTuber, WillE!
Druid
TBC Druid Overview
Omen of Clarity has moved from the Balance talent tree to the Restoration build. In Classic WoW, this required 10 points in the Balance tree, including five points in the Natural Weapons talent. Now, it requires 10 points in the Restoration tree. Additionally, it lasts 30 minutes in TBC as opposed to 10 minutes in Classic WoW.
Hunter
TBC Hunter Overview
All hunter pets now have the same attack speed of 2.0. This is a change from Classic WoW, where pets had varying attack speeds. The most famous example of this was a pet like Broken Tooth, who had an attack speed of 1.0.
Mage
TBC Mage Overview
You can now learn Teleport: Theramore / Portal: Theramore at Level 35 on the Alliance and Teleport: Stonard / Portal: Stonard at Level 35 on the Horde.
Paladin
TBC Paladin Overview
Consecration is now a baseline ability for Paladins and is learned at Level 20. You no longer need to spec into the Holy talent tree to gain the ability.
Priest
TBC Priest Overview
Fear Ward is now available to all priests, regardless of race. However, the cooldown is now three minutes, rather than 30 seconds.
Rogue
TBC Rogue Overview
Dirty Tricks is a new talent that can now be learned after spending a total of seven points in the Subtlety tree. This will increase the range of your Blind and Sap by five yards and reduce the energy cost of each by 50%.
Shaman
TBC Shaman Overview
In TBC Classic, Shamans are now a playable class for the Alliance as a Draenei. Not only that, but due to the Draenei racial, party members will now receive a 1% hit buff. For Shamans, it’s Inspiring Presence, which increases spell hit by 1%. This is available starting from Level 1.
Warlock
TBC Warlock Overview
Create Firestone can be learned as soon as Level 28. It requires one Soul Shard to craft it. The Firestone it creates acts as a wand, increasing fire damage. Additionally, there’s Create Spellstone, which can be learned as early as Level 36, which also acts as a wand and increases Critical Strike rating. These are nice additions, as finding wands as you’re leveling or even as you hit 60 may be tough to come by.
Warrior
TBC Warrior Overview
Death Wish has been moved from the Fury talent tree to Arms. In exchange, Sweeping Strikes moved from the Arms tree to the Fury tree. They both require 20 talent points in their respective talent trees.
