Disarming Traps
Throughout your Hunt, you will run into traps on the ground set by your target. Traps typically spawn near the Prey World Quest marker displayed on your mini-map. Walking up to these traps and right-clicking them will disarm them, granting Hunt progress and a small chance to drop a Disarmed Trap consumable. With how many traps are scattered throughout the zone at once, disarming traps is the quickest and easiest way to gain Hunt progress.
Depending on the Prey target, disarming a trap can cause a few different things to happen:
- Spawn an add
- Spawn an orb that can be looted
- Drop a circle at your feet that explodes for damage shortly after
- Being ambushed by your Prey Target
Be sure to spam your Mount button as the trap is disarming to avoid staying stuck in combat with any unnecessary adds.
Disarming traps is the quickest way to gain Hunt progress.
Occasionally, disarming a trap or getting in combat will cause you to be ambushed by your Prey target. Using the Disarmed Trap consumable on the target will immediately cause them to disappear, saving you from any potential deaths while rewarding more Hunt progress. When the target disappears, follow the red cloud trail they leave behind and Riposte them for extra Hunt progress. Looting the orb will also grant bonus hunt progress.
With this method, Prey Hunts can be completed in roughly 5-10 minutes.
