Old Relationships from K’aresh
During the Ethereal Lorewalking campaign, we learn that the Brokers we met in Oribos and throughout the Shadowlands are native to K’aresh, the home planet of the ethereals. This revelation is made when we deliver an object to Locus-Walker, which turns out to be a communicator from Ve’nari. Locus-Walker seems to dislike Ve’nari and reveals that their last meeting had been during the destruction of their home world of K’aresh.
Note that this doesn’t explicitly mean that Brokers are Ethereals. Despite their strong resemblance, the current revelation is that both are native to K’aresh and seem to have a turbulent relationship.
The timing of this revelation, together with the heavy hints from the Undermine finale cinematic that we will be going after the Dark Heart in a void-y location, likely means we will see more of Locus-Walker and Ve’nari in Patch 11.2 during this chase. Patch 11.2 will likely reveal more about both these races, their relationship, and past endeavors.
Below, you can read the transcript of this interaction between Locus-Walker and Ve’nari. Alternatively, you can read the complete walkthrough of the Ethereal Lorewalking campaign in our earlier coverage:

Epilogue of the Ethereal Lorewalking Campaign
Upon finishing listening to Lorewalker Cho’s stories about the Ethereals, we’re surprised by the visit of a broker in Dornogal. He approaches us with an incredibly well-timed task from Ve’nari, who asks that we bring an object to Locus-Walker in Telogrus Rift.
Om’rajula says: An excellent tale, and pertinent. Ve’nari has need of your aid, hero.
Om’rajula says: I do not recommend you keep her waiting.
Upon arriving in Telogrus, we’re quickly set upon by Shadowguard ethereals who are attempting to assassinate Locus-Walker. Thanking us for our aid in fending them off, he accepts the device given to us by Om’rajula, which spawns a projection of Ve’nari. Despite their origins in very different expansions, it seems that Locus-Walker and Ve’nari not only know each other, but both hail from K’aresh!
Ve’nari says: Oh. As I suspected. The Shadowguard are after you as well?
Locus-Walker says: I have not seen you since the destruction of our world. As I preferred it.
Ve’nari says: Such fangs, Locus-Walker. You wound me. Yet unfortunate as it may be, it seems we must work together one last time.
Ve’nari says: Come. We have much to discuss.
Ve’nari says: As for you, my capable courier… return to your storyteller, with my thanks.
Returning to Lorewalker Cho, he’s shocked about the confirmation that the Ethereals and Brokers are directly related. In addition to his dialogue, he also gives us a book of notes on the story, with speculation about the relationship between the two groups of K’areshi natives.
Lorewalker Cho says: The ethereals and the brokers both hail from K’aresh? Is it possible they were once one people? Fascinating!
Lorewalker Cho says: Although the ethereals are not the most forthcoming, their history is one of survival in the face of horrors beyond imagining.
Lorewalker Cho says: Their world was destroyed, yet they still manage to thrive. Perhaps one day we will learn more of their story, but for now, we must admire their resilience, and strive for it ourselves.
Lorewalker Cho says: And now I shall add this final chapter you uncovered to my tale. Thank you, my friend!
