WARNING: Patch 11.1 Undermine(d) Story Spoilers in this post!
Chapter 5 of the Undermine questline starts at the Bilgewater Flats area. Everyone rescued during Chapter 4 is fine, which means Gazlowe no longer has any business in Undermine. He asks us to finish any unfinished business we might have in End of the Day, so he can leave Undermine for good. However… things change once Renzik talks some sense into Gazlowe.
Gazlowe: We’re done. I’m tired. We got our friends out, and Gallywix doesn’t have the Dark Heart. What else can we do?
Gazlowe: All right, pack it up. We’re getting everyone topside NOW!
Renzik: No, Gazlowe. We’re not going anywhere.
Gazlowe: We freed the hostages. There’s no reason to stay.
Renzik: We’ve been over this.
Renzik: They’re not gonna just up and leave their home like we did.
Gazlowe: Undermine ain’t worth it, Renzik. We left to find something better.
Renzik: You’re Monte Gazlowe, damn it. BUILD something better!
Renzik: If anyone can fix this town…
Renzik: It’s you.
As Gazlowe and Renzik finish their talk, a cutscene plays. We have the context from the PTR.
Through a sniper scope, we see Gallywix instructing Nikki to shoot.
The bullet is meant for Gazlowe, but it hits Renzik.
Renzik collapses in a pile of dust. The bullet was infused with black blood.
With all Goblin Cartel leaders united, we go inside Gazlowe’s scrapshop.
Gazlowe is in shock due to Renzik’s sudden death (and not even a corpse left behind). We comfort him in Under Fire. Suddenly, Gazlowe finds himself determined. There is no more middle ground in Undermine – It’s either the Goblin Cartels or Gallywix.
Gazlowe covers his face and takes a deep breath to collect himself.
… then, he looks up at you and gives a firm, determined nod.
Gazlowe: I’m done waiting for this city to change. We’re putting an end to this, today. If you’ve got a problem with that, now’s the time to say so.
Revilgaz: I’ve let Gallywix have his way with Blackwater for too long. Let’s cut him down to size.
Noggenfogger: It’ll be war in the streets! But if we’re all in this together, it just may be enough.
Grimla: I’m no Trade Princess like the rest of yous, but you better believe i’ll fight for a better Undermine.
With this, we will start a revolution in Get Out There. As we move to meet Gazlowe’s forces in Tailgate Park, we see Gallywix’s Darkfuse guards and robots assaulting Undermine citizens in an attempt to stop the riots.
To start, we pick up a catchphrase for the Goblin revolution to Rally the People and kill Darkfuse guards in Disperse!.
We meet Gazlowe hidden inside a house, as we hear Nikki the Fixer, one of the top Venture Co. enforcers we saw earlier in the Undermine questline (and the one responsible for assassinating Renzik), being accountable for the chaos on the streets. We confront her in Who Owns the Streets?. She throws armies of Black Blood monstrosities at us to escape, and Gazlowe says we need to find a way to stop it – Or it won’t matter how many are raised against Gallywix.
Nikki: And here I thought I’d have to come hunting for you! How’s Renzik doin’? Ahaha!
Gazlowe: You want me dead, is that it? Then c’mon, take your shot! I’m right here!
Nikki: Aaw! What’s the hurry? Can’t you see how much fun I’m having?!
Gazlowe grimaces up at Nikki as his Pocket Deth Lazor cools off.
Gazlowe: Renzik was a hundred times the goblin you are! We’re done with Gallywix and his cronies
Nikki: What are you gonna do about it?! We have the Black Blood! You’re outgunned! Ahahahaha!
—
Nikki: Aah! Was that my last one? Oh well, time to restock. Kill you next time! Ta-ta!
Gazlowe: She’s right about one thing. We gotta deal with their Black Blood or it won’t matter how many people rise up.
We meet up with Revilgaz and Noggenfogger at the Blackwater Marina. Blackwater and Steamwheedle join forces as we destroy the Darkfure Joyriders flying over the beach in Blackwater Navy, and search for a reagent for Noggenfogger’s new potions in Been Savin’ This One – Limes.
We then find Seahorn, who has been injured with Black Blood. We create Noggenfogger’s deluxe potion with the limes we previously gathered in A Vast, Ye Swabs, which seems to be just the thing to cure people of Black Blood!
With this, it is time to take back the Blackwater Marina by killing Black Blood smugglers in Tougher Than We Thought, and kill their leader in Repel the Invaders.
With Blackwater Marina back in our control, it is time to go after the Venture Co. – By hitchhiking on one of their Black Blood crate movers in Expedited Delivery. We meet back with Grimla, Pamsy and Orweyna (who came back just in time), and then go back into the quarry by killing Venture Co. lieutenants in Punching Up, and destroying anything Black Blood we can find in Weapons Hot.
With us reaching the heaps, we learn that Pamsy is pretty proficient with Black Blood. We venture there to recover parts for her to build something to knock Nikki out of the sky in The Thingamajig, and Orweyna wants us to use Azeroth itself to destroy the Black Blood stockpiles in Production Halted.
With all parts gathered and the Black Blood supplies halted, we check in with Grimla in Ready Check. Gazlowe is also back with a few friends of his.
It is time to show Gallywix, who owns the streets? We Own the Streets! We march to the Galaggio and show our revolution by breaking down Gallywix’s garish statue.
It is time for our final showtime against Nikki in My Top Gal. As we confront her right in front of Gallywix, a cutscene plays, and Gallywix manages to escape again – This time, he’s cornered inside his casino, the Galaggio.
Xal’atath for aid! She appears and looks upon the player.
Xal’atath asks for the Dark Heart, which Gallywix doesn’t have.
Xal’atath denies Gallywix assistance and says she’ll
enjoy watching him fall to the player and friends.
Gallywix has no choice but to flee into his casino!
With this, we return to the Incontinental Hotel with Gazlowe in Right Where We Want Him. This ends Chapter 5 of the Undermine Campaign, and sends us right into the Liberation of Undermine raid.
