Hello everyone!
The voice of Azeroth rings out and Xal’atath has set her sights on the prime world soul within the planet. In her possession is an artifact called the Dark Heart, its roots going back millennia to the time where the corrupted black dragon aspect Deathwing was listening to the whispers of the void, of the old gods, and worked on creating an artifact called the Dragon Soul. Goblins helped him with this, but before the Dragon Soul they made a prototype, the Dark Heart, which was hidden beneath the world until it was reclaimed recently by Iridikron during Dragonflight. He’d devour the hunger of Galakrond and then pass it on to Xal’atath. Now the Dark Heart can suck up magic and convert it to Shadow which Xal’atath used to its full potential. Devouring Dalaran, eating up Khadgar, sucking out all that black blood, the blood of the old gods. She seemed untouchable until Alleria Windrunner’s arrow damages the relic and forces Xal’atath to retreat.
This changes nothing.
Big words since the relic is apparently still needed so she’ll need it fixed. Who better to ask for help with fixing it than the ones who originally helped create it …the Goblins…more specifically…Jastor Gallywix. Former leader of the Bilgewater cartel, the goblins that are allied to the Horde, Jastor has abandoned the faction at the same time that Sylvanas Windrunner called them all nothing and flew off into the Shadowlands. Gallywix would then try a scheme involving Hobard Grapplehammer and stealing his brilliant inventions, which was prevented by goblin heroes during the goblin heritage armor questline, and then there was the Shadowlands, where Gallywix randomly showed up in Tazavesh, but he was just sitting there…menicingly… with no real dialogue, rhyme, or reason. His time in the afterlife hasn’t really been mentioned and now he’s back.
Gallywix back in business.
Someway, somehow he got into contact with Xal’atath and has been using his influence, brilliant mind and powerful weaponry to climb his way to the top again as the big boss of Undermine. The goblin capital, where the different goblin cartels live together. Where the little guys get stomped on to line the pockets of someone else. It’s a shady town, but it’s what they got, for some goblins it’s ALL that they have whereas others, like Monte Gazlowe, current leader of the Bilgewater, managed to escape the city. So too did Renzik the Shiv who used to just do the daily grind. Shake down people, make sure they stayed in line and didn’t betray the boss and all that, be the boot that crushed them into the ground, but one day he ran into Matthias Shaw of the SI:7 who proposed the idea that perhaps Undermine didn’t have to stay this way. That if he ever found his way to Stormwind, he should show a gifted coin to the master of cheese, which Renzik would, leaving everything he knew behind to join the SI:7. But perhaps they could do more than just walk away and never look back, like Gazlowe would very much like to do. If he’d never set foot in Undermine again it would be too soon. That’s why he lets Lazlo Overbite represent the Bilgewater within the city.
Welcome to one of the best cities ever created.
Undermine deserves better. Gallywix has got to go. Who’s with me?
Gallywix about to show these chumps why he’s the big man in charge.
Alright I’m busy. Meaning I’m here with you, something more lucrative isn’t being done. So…what is it you want?
I’ll tell you what we want Gallywix. We’ve had enough of your meddling and you as boss. We want a new deal!
Muhahahaha hear that Ug? A new deal. And you all feel the same way huh? You Revilgaz? Nikki?
Cackles
Noggenfogger?
No…Marin….
No? So, really, it’s just…you. Lazlo Overbite. Just a little guy from my former operation, a long time ago. Gazlowe put you up to this? That dirty, stinking, rat! I’d ask you to stick around, but we’ve got real business. You understand. Ug, show our guest…out.
UHOOOOOOOOOOOOO SPAGHETTTIOOOOOOO NEW WEAPONRY. Azerite gonna change the face of war.
Giggle, meeting adjourned.
I see you are already making good use of the Black Blood.
Xal’atath! Nice to see ya. What brings you here?
It has been some time. Is everything proceeding as planned?
The repairs have been more challenging than expected. The costs alone…
are irrelevant.
Of course…I uhhh I just need more time.
Do not disappoint me.
Don’t you worry. I won’t. “
Looking away is exactly why Gallywix was able to rise until he gained enough power, influence and leverage so that all the other cartels are in his pocket and poor Lazlo pays the price. Fixing the dark heart and holding his end of the bargain is not exactly easy though. Not only is Galywix well aware of what happened to her other allies, from his notes we also learn that he tried to pump it full of black blood but the relic just kept on taking until it even started to deplete his reserves. What good is this deal if he doesn’t get anything out of it?
I told Xal’atath I need more. More time, Black Blood, and more help. She pointed me to a place where I can get all that. Bonus, just the guy I need is in the area. I can fix her trinket, make enough weapons to take over Undermine and more.
I don’t know who the guy in the area is because you’d imagine that the area he’s talking about is the rich black blood source at the Wrihing fields but that doesn’t say a whole lot about the guy because I kinda assumed that the guy in question would be Marin Noggenfogger, trade prince of the Steamwheadle cartel, as that’s the one he needs to help him fix the dark heart. Perhaps the guy is the one that helped him ‘convince’ Noggenfogger to come help him as we read:
Noggenfogger, you might be thinking you don’t want to hear from your old pal Gallywix, but I got new friends and a long reach. In fact, I reached out to Gadgetzan. My guy found something real sweet and brought her back to Undermine. You ought to join her. You know how dangerous it can be here. And since you’re coming to Undermine anyway, I got some work that requires your unique alchemical knowledge. My messenger can get a goblin back to me before anyone even knows you’re gone. He’s done it before.
Your friend from now on, Jastor Gallywix.
The very sweet thing found in the desert of Tanaris is Marin’s Wife Sprinkle, kidnapped and taken into Undermine, so he doesn’t exactly have much choice about helping Galywix or not. Also explains why he kept his mouth shut during the meeting, but fixing the dark heart is not easy, not even for an alchemical genius like Noggenfogger. The power in this thing isn’t a healing power, it’s volatile. It seems angry and so they’ll need a catalyst that can stabilize the energy the device is powered with until it can fix itself.
Countless elixirs and balms have been thrown at the thing but nothing seems to work until Noggenfogger accidentally spills his Kaja’Cola on the Black Blood. He usually doesn’t drink the stuff, but when you’re pressed for ideas and someone’s life depends on it… you’ll do anything and this accident shows him that something happened. NOTHING happened! And by nothing, I mean the black blood stabilized. Kaja’mite is the key. A somewhat mysterious crystal deeply rooted in the origin of the goblins. Once upon a time, keeper Mimiron was experimenting with the stuff. Seeing its effects on creatures, and this is what gave the goblins their heightened intelligence. It has a similar effect on other creatures and I’ve already had the question if Kaja’mite is similar to Battle for Azeroth’s Azerite, the blood of Azeroth, and I’d personally say it definitely comes close. Both have the ability to inspire, to make room for great inventions and ideas, both good and bad. Azerite was mainly turned into extremely powerful weaponry, but it also provided perfect antidotes or protective housing for those in need. Kaja’mite seems to be able to do similar things, inspire their genius and apparently stabilize the effects of the black blood. Interesting to think about those implications with knowing that black blood is the blood of the old gods, and potentially kaja’mite being the blood of Azeroth. A force capable of stabilizing the other cosmic forces? Just the void? A topic for another day…
So Galywix has his solution, Kaja’mite will allow him to turn all that black blood into stable weaponry and a fix for the dark heart, but again, he knows what happened to Xal’atath’s previous allies and is no fool. She’ll get the dark heart when he got the gear to protect what is his. She thinks she holds all the cards, but he has an ace or two, but then something happens that he didn’t plan for… the wall separating his operations from the rest of the ringing deeps comes crumbling down and the goblins spare no time setting up a toll booth
Haha I gotta reward the effort, look at them.
We are already quite familiar with the effects of dealing with the black blood. Touching it long enough will surely bring insanity and send you off into a different realm of existence. That’s why the Horonir Orweyna broke tradition, stepped out of the shadows and followed the voice of her goddess. She’s been granted visions by Azeroth about the operations in undermine, the dealings with the black blood. Seeing the goblins spread its corruption is no good, but it’s not like the crews have much of a choice. The harvesting operations are hurting them so much that Pamsy of the Venture Co took the risk of blowing up the wall just to get our attention.
Look, this project is slowly killing my crew. Blowing up the wall was my cry for help.
That was you? I knew you was worth something, I got a reward to collect. See ya losers.
Cats out of the bag now. Zirdo’s on his way to earn himself a sweet promotion and all he’ll have to do is sell out others. That’s the goblin way…for some anyways…others have higher hopes and bigger ambitions. We join Pamsy to her work site at the Writhing fields where we’re sadly too late for some of her crew but others we save while we also confirm that it was indeed Zirdo that ratted them out, which he did of course. The goblin is not here anymore, already in Undermine with Gallywix and buckets full of black blood. That’s where we’ll need to go as well, after shutting down the operation they got going on here, but Gazlowe is not exactly keen to go back to their capital…
Gallywix can’t be trusted with the black blood. It looks like we got some business in Undermine.
You got business in Undermine. I ain’t ever going back there.
I thought you were the one who wanted to build a better world for goblins.
Any goblin who wants a better world has already left Undermine, like we did.
Sigh
Look, maybe we can get some others out.
IT’s their home. They shouldn’t have to leave. I gave up everyrhting when I left. Family, friends. I won’t make anyone else do that.
Alright alright. We’ll take a look around. But I’m not going there to start a war.
Don’t worry…That’s my job.
Goblin jazzy rocket into the capital
Hey over here! Pamsy sent word about what happened in the Ringing Deeps. I’m here to get you reacquainted with Undermine.
Never thought I’d be back here. Better get started.
I’ll see if I can track the Black Blood.
You’re gonna wanna keep a low profile. Gallywix is not a fan.
I came to fix problems, not make new ones.
First stop, the Incontinental Hotel. Goblins of all sorts congregate there. It’s a great place to get the latest word.
Undermine smells worse than I remember. Was it always this suffocating?
C’mon now. Old grease and burnt rubber…The smells of home.
This ain’t my home.
If it wasn’t clear yet, Gazlowe isn’t exactly happy with being back but the situation in Undermine with Gallywix and his blackfuse…his enforcers…is getting more dire by the day. After setting up and checking out the hotel, we ride out to see what’s going on in the city, at least this part of Undermine as there is more Undermine to be found, just that transport there is not available. First up, we check on the Bilgewater
Darkfuse kinda took over Tailgate Park.
I left Laslo Overbite in charge, I need to talk to him.
Gazlowe…they killed him.
I remember things being bad. This is worse than expected.
Gallywix’s enforcers are all over the place and those blackblood infused weapons make them extremely dangerous, even for us. We gotta do something and surely the other cartels can’t be happy with Gallywix being in charge either?
“Last stop, the Heaps. My home turf.
He’s infected every part of the city. The cartels ain’t even standing up for themselves.
We just gotta push them, Gazlowe.
He heh. That’s the spirit. AS they say, ‘There is no rain in Undermine.” isn’t really a sun either.
Ey Nikki! Venture works for Gallywix now. Why are Darkfuse here?
Cause Darkfuse keeps you nobodies in line.”
“You can’t treat our own crew like this, Nikki.
I ain’t like you. I’m at the big table. I’m going places.
You’re the one who gets to stick around and….and mop up this mess. Have fun! AHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAH”
Venture Co is mostly known as the cartel that doesn’t really care about morals, not when there’s money to be made. Nikki clearly is one of those goblins, willing to do anything it takes to secure that promotion and keep her seat at the high table. Yet at the same time, we’ve also got Venture Co like Pamsy and Grimla that have certain lines you do not cross. Now we know that Gallywix has his forces gather the black blood, but then what? What is he doing with it, how is he transporting it? Orweyna is still very concerned about her visions and what the goblins are up to….
Heh! Wait till you see uptown!”
“I caught the scent of Black Blood in a small storehouse. We must hurry.
I have more deliveries. I’ll be in touch.
Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”
“Orweyna, you didn’t have to knock him out.
He was going to take the Black Blood.
We don’t need to question him. Just take a look around.”
The Blackwater Cartel has some anti-ethereal units, turns out that the mad ravings about bandaged people coming out of the walls were not so mad after all. Alleria will have to be informed that the ethereals are creeping in the shadows. Meanwhile, these shipments have blackwater written all over it… literally, and the blackwater cartel is quite recent, formed out of the pirates of the blackwater raiders, led by Baron Revilgaz, who you’ve probably quested with once or twice while visiting Booty Bay. They’re the cartel all about transport and shipping. Black Blood comes in and then Blackwater takes it somewhere in the city by couriers. If we want to find out where, we’ll have to go to the top and pay Revilgaz a visit.
But you’re working for the bad guys.”
“You’re my pals, but it’s Undermine. Ya want something, ya give something.
Like tearing down the Darkfuse recruitment posters and pushing back against the darkfuse that are trying to move into Hovel Hill just as they moved into the marina and pushed out the Blackwater Cartel.
“Renzik and I’ll stay with Revilgaz. We got catching up to do.
Everyone here works for a bigger fish, and ya can’t just spill secrets. Smuggler – smugglee confidentiality, yeah? Loose lips sink ships. Like I couldn’t, for old times sake, tell ya that I just leave the stuff at a depot in the Heaps.
And we wouldn’t ask ”
Blackwater is just one step on the journey. Revilgaz has his people take it from the station, hide it for a bit, and then deliver it to drop sites. The drop sites change, but the current one is a depot in the heaps, which we check out, and wouldn’t ya know it, our old pall Zirdo’s there too. Promoted to overseer after selling out the rest of his crew. That little snitch doesn’t get to keep on breathing, but then we read his ledger… 1000 units for a secret project. 20 units for developmental ammunition and all transfer approved by Noggenfogger of Steamwheedle…
“Unbelievable! noggenfogger working for Gallywix? I told you, this town ruins everything and everyone. It ain’t worth it.
Zirdo’s always been a sleaze. Revilgaz, he’s a decent goblin but he’s still a pirate. Noggenfogger…Maybe he was playing an angle with ya, maybe he’s always been rotten. But what I know is, they all work for Gallywix. Some ‘cuz they wanna, some ‘cuz they got no choice.
You think Gallywix has leverage on him?
He’s your pal, you tell me.
I don’t know, but I’m gonna find out.”
Gazlowe doesn’t know about the kidnapping yet, those notes are found after the fact, so he’s confused why his close friend would work for Gallywix. THEY had plans to work together on still making profit, but maybe not by doing whatever it takes. By providing proper work conditions and not squeeze every bit of profit that they could. What is going on here? And before we can even ask, we’re already under attack by the ethereals. Must mean we’re on the right track, let’s pick up Alleria from the slam central station and go talk with Noggenfogger.
You know why. “
“I can’t talk. They’ll know. That, uh – you’re visiting me on my birthday! Hah.”
“Maybe your Darkfuse friends would like some drinks.
I got just the thing. Grab them off the table and pass them around.”
Noggenfogger made his fortune and climbed the ranks by selling his Noggenfogger elixir, which became incredibly popular amongst players during classic. Skeletal form, slowfall, or shrink in size, the effects were random but fun all the same. Well, fun for us, not so much for the blackfuse!
Check Venture kaja’mite mines. You’ll find answers there.”
“Marin, will you be safe here?
I’ll stay hidden and make sure of it.”
Back to dealing with the venture co we go, doing our best to convince as many as we can to step away from this madness while also picking up some employee schedules…
2: “Another reminder: You lose your punch card for the Kaja’Coast and getting fired will be the LEAST of your worries.
3: “ONE LAST REMINDER: You want one of the new weapons? You better be workin’ LATE. You better be working’ HOLIDAYS. HA! Slackers ain’t gettin’ promotions.
The next lead leads us to the Kaja’Coast in Zandalar but to enter such a confidential work site, we’ll need the punchcard from Krome’s office, one of the big bosses who organizes how Venture’s workforce gets split up. He already has one of those new weapons, charged up with the Black Blood without it exploding.
You check the mines. I’ll stay here and keep this quiet.
Gazlowe worked out a deal with the Zandalari, which allowed them to mine the kaja’mite, but Gallywix’s crew is trampling all over that. Once all is said and done, Bilgewater will have to come back to clean things up and do it right. For now, we clear out what we can and gather bird parts, which we can turn into something more useful. The gathered kajamite stockpiles are blown up and the supervisors are slain until we come across a crumpled paystub…
“Your vacation request is denied. Also you’re fired for asking. Leave your uniform outside the extremely secret kaja’mite warehouse, then GET OUT OF MY CITY.”
Well that answers that. Venture co is getting paid by one of Gallywix’s secret warehouses back in Undermine. That means he’s hoarding all of this kaja’mite back there, but what could he possibly need that much for? Time to use Gazlowe’s hotwired bird and spy on his workers:
“I haven’t had a day off in forever. What’s the rush on kaja’mite all of a sudden?
Who knows. It’s not gettin’ sold anywhere. But Gallywix always has a plan.”
“We need way more Black Blood than this! If we was payin’ you, this would be comin’ out of your checks. Let’s see if you at least brought the good stuff. Stay here!”
Cutscene: Begin the weapon test.
BABOOM
It worked! The kaja’mite contains and stabilizes the Black Blood.
So we can tell Gallywix? This will fix the Dark Heart?
Yup. And all of his improved weapons designs too.
Great news! Hey boys! No witnesses.
Wait! No!”
“Did he say the Dark Heart? This just got way bigger than Undermine.
That’s why he needed so much Black Blood, and the kaja’mite to contain it. The weapons must be a bonus. “
Gazlowe goes on ahead back to Undermine and inform the others while we take on
Overseer Dritz in his full-on black blood powered mech suit…
“The warehouse…The hostages…He already knows…”
Time is against us… and not a moment to catch our breath is given as back in Undermine we find out that Alleria had to protect Noggenfogger from an ethereal attack and now they seem to be looking for something…
Phase-Thief Azir: “On my trail, are you? Hmm…I knew I could you to be diligent.
That sounds like another Shadowguard ethereal. A minion of the void.”
“Hmmm hehehhehe. We knew you would chase the Dark Heart, and that we would have to take it first.”
“That goblin hid it well while it was repaired, but you all were so resourceful.
They let us do the work for them.”
“The Dark Heart will be ours. You would be wise to forfeit your little pursuit.
They do not now who they’re dealing with.”
“We must tell Gazlowe. We will need our full forces if we are to find the Dark Heart before the ethereals do.”
“Why’d they attack you, Marin?
I know everything. The warehouse, the kaja’mite, the Dark Heart bein’ kept there.”
“You could have told us!
Uh uh. Gallywix has my wife in that warehouse! I couldn’t talk.
Ah, but you just did. We’ll be retrieving the Dark Heart now. My apologies.
Muhahahahha”
“I’ll hunt down that ethereal and keep him away from the warehouse.
We’ll get the hostages safe and find the Dark Heart. Renzik, Nobbel, you’re with me. Grimla, get Marin to Bilgewater headquarters and send word to Revilgaz.”
Now we’re REALLY out of time. Ethereals are gonna beat us to the warehouse, but we might still beat them to the Dark Heart. The warehouse muscle is already on the ground, which works in our favor, but the ethereals are still skulking in the shadows. While Alleria looks for the artifact, we look for the hostages and murder any ethereal that dares to strike…
“What happened? What were all those bandage-monsters? Where’s Marin?
He’s waitin’ for you back at Bilgewater headquarters. The way’s clear.”
“I’m up here! Get me loose from these chains!”
“AGH! Those scurvy Darkfuse dogs. I’d kill ‘em myself if they weren’t already dead!
There’ll be plenty more to kill later. Revilgaz is back at our headquarters. Go!”
“Hobart? You’re Bilgewater, why did Gallywix grab you?
Because I’m a genius. That’s why he wasted my time making these weapons for him. Meanwhile, he ran off to his little cave over there to work on the Dark Heart. ”
The hostages are free so Gallywix has no leverage left. Time to find the rat in his little hidey hole…
Cutscene:
<Chuckles> You’re too late Gazlowe buddy. You’ll never beat me to a good deal!
Uhoooo look out behind you
Gallywix
<grunts in surprise>
Oh, uh… I was just about to send that on to Xal’atath. Repair work’s all finished. Not holding out or nothing, I swear.
<Grunts>
Whatever Xal’atath promised you, Gallywix… it ain’t worth it.
<Groans in frustration>
I’ll remember this. This is my town. And when I come back, I’m gonna bury you under it!”
“Damn it! I only lost track of the ethereals for a moment and that was enough.
“Gallywix was repairing the Dark Heart for Xal’atath. But it seems she lost her patience with him and sent the ethereals to collect.
Maybe he was trying to keep the Dark Heart once he fixed it, for some reason.
Who cares? We’re done here. Let’s go.
Gazlowe, we got him on the ropes. We can…
We can ditch this town, like we should have from the start.
Alleria?
I have to chase the Dark Heart. I am sorry.”
Gazlowe keeps his arms crossed, unconvinced that Undermine deserves more than what he has already given, while Renzik thinks they could do so much more. We give him 1 week to do the near impossible, convince the trade prince of the bilgewater cartel that Undermine is worth fighting for:
Stay a while and listen:
Again with Undermine? What’s your problem?
Really you gotta ask? Every day what I earned got stole. What I built got broke. In Undermine, every good idea was just chum in the water. Every bad goblin crawled out of the woodwork and the bad guys would always win. I couldn’t live like that. I had to get out. You left too.
Yeah, the bad guys always won.
Huh. Got tired of the boot on your neck?
I got tired of being the boot.”
One week later and Gazlowe seems to be unmovable…
All right, pack it up. We’re getting everyone topside NOW!
No, Gazlowe. We’re not going anywhere.
We freed the hostages. There’s no reason to stay.
We’ve been over this. They’re not gonna just up and leave their home like we did.
Undermine ain’t worth it, Renzik. We left to find something better.
You’re Monte Gazlowe, damn it. BUILD something better!
If anyone can fix this town… it’s you.”
Cutscene:
Gazlowe has a mark on his face
Take the shot.
Catch ya on the flip side Gazzy.
GET DOWN!!!!
Renzik! Oh no… no,no,no,no,no,no
<Sadistic, maniacal laughter>
Kill them all! Triple hazard pay for whoever brings me Gazlowe’s head.”
Gazlowe wipes something ashen from his cheek, hand trembling as he stares down at it…
Renzik’s death does more then his words ever could so in essence, Gallywix creates his own worst enemy as this is ten paces too far. The trade prince of the Bilgewater cartel has had enough…This city has had enough. Jastor Gallywix has got to go…
“I’m done waiting for this city to change. We’re putting an end to this, today. If you’ve got a problem with that, now’s the time to say so.
I’ve let Gallywix have his way with Blackwater for too long. Let’s cut him down to size.
I’m no Trade Princess like the rest of youse, but you better believe I’ll fight for a better Undermine.
It’ll be war in the streets! But if we’re all in this together, it just may be enough.”
It’s not just gonna be us doing the heavy lifting. Undermine itself will have to rise up so we join Gazlowe with winning the hearts and minds of the people and putting the hurt on anyone that’s hurting the Bilgewater, until Nikki shows up again…
“Let’s get that cackling assassin.”
“And here I thought I’d have to come hunting for you! How’s Renzik doin’? Ahaha!
You want me dead, is that it? Then c’mon, take your shot! I’m right here!
Aaw! What’s the hurry? Can’t you see how much fun I’m having?
Renzik was a hundred times the goblin you are! We’re done with Gallywix and his cronies!
What are you gonna do about it?! We have the Black Blood! You’re outgunned! Ahahahahha!”
“Ahh! Was that my last one? Oh well, time to restock. Kill you next time! Ta-ta!”
“She’s right about one thing. We gotta deal with their Black Blood or it won’t matter how many people rise up. I’ll handle things here. Go find Noggenfogger and Revilgaz at the waterfront!”
We have to cut them off at their source, so we join Fleet Master Seahorn and Revilgaz at their marina, clearing it out of any of the blackfuse that had moved in and killing off their shipments coming out of their HQ.
“People of Undermine, return to your homes! There is no revolution!”
And the weapons already in place? Venture Co has to be involved for Nikki the Fixer to be so well-armed. Time to do some damage together with Grimla, Pamsy and Orweyna:
Run, that’s right! Run! Ahahahhaha!”
“Ride or die with Gallywix! You chose die!
Die, die, die!”
“Nothin’burns hotter than this stuff!
Huugh! Catch! Ahahahah”
“But we were first to market”
“They’re not stopping! Get back here, now! Defend me!
Haargh! You’re spoiling my fun, Jastor!”
His enemies are approaching so the boss of Undermine pulls back his units. Giving us the time to clean out the heaps and get some materials that the brilliant mind of Gazlowe can use to create a thingamebob that will allow us to take on the near invincible load out Nikke is flying around with. Gazlowe himself hasn’t been standing still either…the liberation of Undermine is upon us….
“Now for those enforcers. Let’s find Gazlowe.
I hope you don’t mind, I brought a few friends. Now, let’s finish this.”
“Renzik! Bring it down!”
“I can’t believe my eyes! Undermine is rising up! You pulled it off, Monte!
I didn’t do this. The people did. This city deserves better. Renzik knew it all along. We’ll build it, once Gallywix gets out of the way.”
“Yo big shot! Mug for the camera a bit, will ya?
That’s right! Let ‘em see that we ain’t letting them push us around no more!”
“They’re marchin’ on the Gallagio! Do something, Nikki!”
“Bring it down!
Heave! Back up and pull it down!”
TEARING DOWN THAT STATUEEEE
No more Gallywix! Bring it down!
It’s not even actual gold lolololol.”
“Ya invite all these people just to watch you die, Gazlowe?
Oh, I’ve got something for ‘em to watch alright!
Get rid of them.”
Shoots Nikki down, Orweyna uses her power over the roots to keep the rest of Gallywix’s forces away.
“My executive package! You – I’ll do you like I did your pal Renzik!”
“What am I paying you for?! Finish them, Nikki!
Haah! This ain’t just business! It’ll be a pleasure killing you!”
Cutscene:
Gallywix’ top assassin just went down. The entire town is calling for his head.
It seems your time has run out, Gallywix.
Xal’atath! You got here just in time! They’re…
Where is the Dark Heart?
Wha…what do you mean? I handed it over to your ethereal pal.
You gave it to the ethereals?
He…he wasn’t working for you?! I—I didn’t know, I swear! Hey, we can still fix this! Just help me stomp this rebellion –
You have outlived your usefulness. But I will enjoy watching them tear you apart.
I don’t need you. I don’t need anyone! You hear me? Each and every one of you upstarts is gonna pay! IN BLOOD.”
Turns out Alleria was wrong. Gallywix was wrong… We were wrong. The ethereals that showed up last week were not working for Xal’atath at all and now they have her precious artifact…the Dark Heart…
While I personally really like that Xal’atath is not an all knowing, all planned out enemy that knows everythign that’s going to happen and can actually be outplayed and outmanouvered..for me this makes her more grounded and opens up the stage to learn more about her, her background, perhaps even stand with her against what’s to come…at the same time I wish this was more fleshed out. How is it possible that Xal’atath runs rings around a highly skilled, highly trained void ranger but gets outplayed by… in essence… just a goblin. A ruthless and very smart goblin, mind you, but just a goblin all the same. How come he was able to scheme behind her back, keep the dark heart hidden, and it’s not impossible to explain. Perhaps those same ethereals that took the dark heart approached him earlier with gadgets or knowledge on how to avoid her gaze. There are explanations we can give, I just wish the story would give them, but perhaps a mythic only phase in the raid will reveal his more? Reveal his dreadlord side? Who knows. You have to wonder how things would have gone had he just handed the Dark Heart over to her instead of trying to hold on to it as some kind of leverage but that’s not his style I guess and hey, Gallywix is not completely without support. The city will not be free as long as he has not been brought to justice, so it’s time to fight our way into his Gallagio and bring low Chrome King Gallywix.
“Calling all cutthroats, merchs, fire bugs and psychopaths! ill all these goblin cartels… and undermine is yours to plunder.”
“Bilgewater….Come out and plaaaaay. Ahahahhaha
Ahhh great, new plan. Champions, take care of her while we check on our cartels. ”
Starting with Vexie and the Geargrinders who have one of the deadliest intros ever…
Vexie Fullthrottle has been paving a path of terror through the hearts of anyone her gang encounters. Answering Gallywix’s call for aid, she and her crew are here to repay an old favor and add a few new grease stains to Undermine’s streets.
“Went in…too…hot…
Nice work! That’s one nuisance outta the way.
Good job, morons! While you were playing with Vexie, my crew was moving in. Heh, thanks for the extra time.
Ahh great and the Gallageo is sealed tight. Clear out Gallywix’s chronies and see what can be salvaged. We’ll put something together that can blast the doors of that casino.”
Then we get to pick and choose where we want to go, but the 4 encounters will have to be cleared to open the way into the galagio itself.
The Cauldron of Carnage:
“It’s the tussle of the century folks, but what’s this? Ladies and gents, it appears we have a surprise 3 way battle in the cauldron of carnage tonight. HOPE THEY’RE READY TO CRUMBLE!!!”
Throughout history, there have been many epic wars, but none more explosive than the rivalry between the galvanic gorilla Torq the Tempest and the molten mechasaur Flarendo the Furious. Tonight, all bets are off when these two champions clash in the cauldron for a showdown that threatens to tear Undermine in two! Witness the carnage or be the shame of goblinkind.
I could hear that crowd from all the way out here. Just don’t let the fame get to your heads.”
“R-r-r-Rik Reverb here. Time to get down”
Rik Reverb who loves the boom of an explosion, the crackle of a firework, and most importantly, the sound of his own voice. From his flying sonic resonator, Rik serves as Gallywix’s partying promoter by enthralling the citizens of Undermine with addictive and deadly Goblin beats.
“It’s after midnight, I gotta jet.
Ahh finally some quiet. I thought that blowhard would never shut up. You have my thanks champions.
Gallywix couldn’t woop you little hooligans? HA! I’ll show him how we did it in my day.”
Stix Bunkjunker: It could be said that no city service is more essential than garbage collection—or at least that’s what Stix Bunkjunker would like you to believe. Stix and his cleanup crew have been finding inventive ways to dispose of the city’s unwanteds and unmentionables for as long as anyone can remember.
“Clean up this…messs….
That’s one less goblin on Gallywix’ side. My venture buddies will take over clean up from here. Thanks.
Eureka! Gallywix is gonna fliiiip when he sees this. Unless he doesn’t. Maybe we ought to do some market testing first.”
and then Sprocketmonger Lockenstock: As one of Gallywix’s top minds, he cannot say no to innovation, meaning that his list of inventions stretches far longer than the conveyor belts in his refinery. Constantly looking to simultaneously cut both corners and costs, Lockenstock’s always searching for new markets to test out his gadgets.
“Ughhh Not…enough…juice…
Streets are clear, and we got all the salvage we need. Meet me at the Gallagio – It’s time we blow the lid of that joint.”
Team cartel drives the tank like it’s been stolen, but it gets the job done.
“ha haaaa easy as pie. Come on – Gallywix wants a fight? We’ll give it to him.
Cutscene:
Fire in the hole! GET TO COVER AS WE BLOW OPEN THE DOOR
“Look who made it. Feast your eyes on the galagio while you can.
You ready to talk?
What, you think you gonna yap at me till I roll over? We got games to play Gazlowe.”
With the Gallagio open, we can see what life is like for those that are lifted up by stepping on others. The city doesn’t look that bad way up high, and it’s all that glitters and gold welcoming us inside. Pay a bit closer attention and we can see that the place is actually quite a dump, shoddy repair jobs, rigged gambling machines…it is the place to be as a goblin and the design team seems to have gone all out. I did not know that we needed a slide in the raid until we had one, we spent a good amount of raid time just checking out all the nooks and crannies, but let’s not forget why we’re here…
Up next is the one-armed bandit: The premiere slot machine in Gallywix’s casino.
“Ready to win big!”
All this delightful device asks is that you play fairly and don’t cheat. The rules by which it determines this are an enigmatic mystery, but the one-armed punishment it dispenses cannot be missed.
“All bets…are…offf…
Hey Gallywix, looks like the house don’t always win.
Do you have any idea how much that thing cost? I’m gonna take it out of your sorry green hide, Gazlowe.
Guess we struck a nerve, come on.
Nobody passes without permission from the boss and you don’t got permission, ain’t that right Mug?
You got it Zee.”
Buddies from the day they were born, Mug’Zee’s two heads are the topper of a giant hulk of an Ogre enforcer specifically hired by Gallywix to oversee his casino’s day-to-day activities. In recent weeks, Mug’Zee’s been reassigned to keeping anyone and everyone out of the Gallagio’s innermost chambers. The two heads work together and offer different abilities depending on where the majority of the raid stands in the room.
“Pleasure working with ya, Zee.
See ya in the next life, pall.
What’s next, Gallywix?
Oeeee someone’s getting cranky. You wanna oust me? Keep going. I’ll see you soon enough.
Gallywix, it doesn’t need to end here.
Oh save me the mush. The Horde made you soft.
I’m not being soft. I’m offering you a way out.
You don’t make the offers. I do. Now watch and learn how a real goblin takes charge. Time to die chumps
Oh pardon me, get a face full of what the boys have been working on.”
Unfortunately, we spend so much time just having fun in the raid and exploring the place that our one raid night wasn’t able to get to Gallywix quite yet. That will be for next time, but thankfully others have been able to topple the chrome king:
Having taken a ‘strategic retreat,’ Jastor Gallywix is holed up in the halls of the Gallagio. Whatever Gallywix has been working on, it’s guaranteed to be powerful, deadly, and capable of crushing any who oppose him.
Despite his overpowered weaponry and massive arsenal, we together with the other cartels shut down his operations and force him to surrender, but again Gallywix proves to be his own worst enemy…
Cutscene:
Gallywix screaming angrily
Hops out and is pretty upset with it all
Worthless hunk of junk!
Oi don’t kick that
Hey…hold on!
It’s not over till I say it’s over and I. ALWAYS. WIN.
Look out!
Huh? HUH!
Ow boy, Gallywix pancake…
Sigh….Let’s get out of here. But who’s going to clean that Gazlowe?!
Jazzy music as we gaze upon the dirty streets of Undermine.
The truth is, I never thought much of Undermine. The rough streets, the dirty dealings, the mob bosses squeezing everyone for their last copper coin. And while Gallywix is gone for good, that’s not what’s gonna change this city. It will be the people who defy its reputation and stick around to fight for each other. That’s what Ranzik did and that’s what we all gotta do to build a new tomorrow for Undermine. So… let’s get to work.
Uhoooo spooky void stuff be happening D: The ethereals have the dark heart. What’s gonna happen next? STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT EXCITING EPISODE OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT!!!”
And that all together is the major storyline that plays out in Undermine. The cartels have gone back to how it used to be before Gallywix took power, it was the cartels working together that ruled the city. Time will tell what the future is going to hold for goblin kind. They seem to have decided that someone like Gallywix, dealing with black blood, taking power for the sake of power and purely thinking about himself is too far, but then… will they embrace Gazlowe’s vision or will they still be on the more shady side of things, just not as far as Gallywix went? Only time will tell, first they gotta rebuild. Then the last bit of the epilogue cutscene gives us a teaser of things to come. The ethereals hold the dark heart…what could that mean for the future? That we’ll discuss in a different video, and I also want to make one dedicated to Renzik the Shiv, as there is a follow-up quest after the raid, which was beautiful to see. I think a story of Renzik would be very nice to cover that part in.
They’ve placed quite a bit of story as epilogue to give an idea for what the future of Undermine is going to hold but since we’ve been going for about an hour now, I think we’ll cover that in a separate video. Talk about Renziks farewell, the secret cartel, the future of the Gallagio, and so much more, so for now…thank you very much for watching everyone!
Honestly, I think we’ve been going on for long enough so thank you very much for watching everyone! Really hope you enjoyed the coverage of Undermine.
