The Burning Crusade Phase 1 Overview
With that, and given the environment we’re playing in, here are some features that could improve TBC Anniversary, should Blizzard decide to add them into the game.
Badges of Justice Drop in Karazhan
While Badges of Justice will drop in Karazhan in later phases of TBC, adding them sooner rather than later could be the right move.
Karazhan Raid Overview
In TBC Anniversary, we have post-nerf Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, and Magtheridon’s Lair, but Heroic Dungeons are pre-nerf. The Heroic Dungeon experience feels even more difficult than Karazhan, which makes for a bit of an odd feeling progression-wise.
Thus, adding Badges of Justice to the raid now would provide another option for players to collect these to either use on gear or stockpile for later. With Karazhan being a weekly lockout, it wouldn’t become a substitute for doing Heroic Dungeons or cannibalize that content, but rather complement it, as some classes need more Badges of Justice than others.
The Burning Crusade Dungeons Overview
Also, Heroic Dungeons still possess a lot of Phase 1 BiS gear, so there will still be plenty of reason to do them. Items like Quagmirran’s Eye from Heroic Slave Pens, Girdle of the Deathdealer from Heroic Black Morass, and Bracers of Dignity from Heroic The Arcatraz are some items that immediately come to mind that are still Phase BiS items from Heroic Dungeons.
Random Dungeon Finder
One of the biggest arguments against Random Dungeon Finder in the past was that it broke up realm communities. There used to be dozens of realms, meaning fewer players per realm, and it’s understandable how Random Dungeon Finder impacted that. At the time, that was a fair point, but now, with mega-realms, it’s not really much of an argument anymore.
Random Dungeon Finder in Wrath of the Lich King
But why add this? As content creators like Kaghoegaming and SilviteSoltis point out, finding Tanks in TBC Anniversary can be quite a task. It’s either difficult to land one in your group, or the Tank is willing to do the dungeon, but many are starting to charge a fee. Random Dungeon Finder solves this, and many other issues:
- The Random Dungeon Finder tool provided additional incentives for roles like Tanks to queue. Right now, that incentive isn’t there, especially if a Tank doesn’t need gear any longer and they’ve completed the Daily Heroic Dungeon.
- This would allow players to multi-task within the game as opposed to spamming LFG chat or refreshing the current LFG tool in hopes that a Tank appears and you’re quick enough to message them first.
- The concept of it ruining realm communities isn’t really relevant, as there’s only mega-realms where running into players you previously played with isn’t as common. In fact, the community feeling now is more isolated within one’s guild than within the realm.
- There are fewer “feels bad” moments, as if the group goes poorly, it simply disbands and you re-queue, whereas now you’re rolling the dice on whatever PUGs you run with anyway.
- This would help make low-level dungeon groups form more easily.
Ultimately, with Anniversary operating on mega-realms, the strongest argument against Random Dungeon Finder no longer exists.
Race Changes
Adding the Race Change service benefits Blizzard and players of all types.
- Blizzard makes money off the service.
- Casual players can create their characters to their liking and the race/class fantasy they desire, as opposed to leveling a new character.
- The more “try hard” or “parse-focused” players can make changes that benefit their group, such as Hunters changing from Dwarf or Night Elf to Draenei so their party benefits from the 1% hit rating buff, Heroic Presence.
The counterargument is wanting fewer paid services/microtransactions in the game, and while that’s fair, TBC Anniversary is essentially a glorified seasonal mode. If this were a more progressive game mode, that would be a different discussion.
However, with this version appearing to have some shelf life, given several insinuations that a new Classic game mode is coming at BlizzCon 2026, why not open that Pandora’s Box even more?
