According to Game Director Joe Shely, Blizzard didn’t feel comfortable with Hardcore players not being able to consume this very important item while being disconnected. In the end, “it sucks to die to a disconnect” in any game, and even more in Hardcore mode, so the team is happy to announce this meaningful change coming with Season 2.
