The Burning Crusade Releases February 5th
One under-the-radar method that players are using right now is wrapping items in Red Ribboned Wrapping Paper, Blue Ribboned Wrapping Paper, or Winterveil Event wrapping papers to create better gear once the pre-patch begins!
How to Use Gift Wrapping to Your Advantage
You may be wondering how using wrapping paper can create better gear for an alternate character during pre-patch. There was an excellent explanation of it from Reddit user u/Neither-Inevitable76:
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Identify items that change from Classic WoW to the TBC pre-patch (we’ve listed some below).
- Retrieve that item via the Auction House or farm it yourself.
- Acquire wrapping paper, which can be bought in almost every major city. Do not use the Auction House.
- Once the item is in your bag, use the wrapping paper on the item
- The item will then be wrapped into a present, such as a Red Ribboned Gift.
- Hold the present until pre-patch and then send it to your newly-created character
Items That Change In the Pre-Patch
Several items that change with the pre-patch launch are substantially better than their Classic counterparts. However, they turn from BoE to BoP, so you have to be careful not to open the present until it is in the possession of your new character.
